Dear whoever reads this, I am trying to make a 3D .dxf out of a 2D shapefile for several hundred buildings. Doing this in one fell swoop is proving to be a roadblock. In ArcScene, I extruded building heights for maybe two dozen city blocks in Tel Aviv then later applied the Layer 3D to Feature Class and Multipatch to Collada tools. The immediate goal was to take this swath of hundreds of cubes of various shapes and sizes representing buildings and import them into Sketchup and/or 3DS Max as a .dae for later conversion to a .dxf. Unfortunately, the buildings can only be imported individually, one at a time, without spatial alignment to one another in both Sketchup and 3DS Max. Precision is key, so needless to say this is unacceptable. I need one cohesive layer. The eventual goal is to import these buildings into the gaming software Unity for unwrapping and rendering with images as part of both car accident and parking spot simulations. Time is of the essence. Please let me know what options, if any, are available. If there's something I failed to consider, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance, Danny PS: Here's my email address: [email protected]. I'd be happy to send you the data I'm working with.

Hi! I using WGS84 coordinate system in my project. If I will export web scene, arcscene give this error; 000269 : The cartographic spatial reference does not have a projected coordinate system. Description ArcGIS needs to use a spatial reference with a projected coordinate system to display features in the proper location. Solution Specify a spatial reference with a projected coordinate system. How to fix it?

Hi! In my case, I am interested in 3D visualisation of landscapes and digital terrain modeling. I would put myself somewhere between a beginner and intermediate user, on the beginning of my career. I noticed that there is a "market gap" in my field when it comes to 3D GIS and interoperability with CAD, thats why I want to step towards it. I found the Esri trainings on 3D Analyst and a book called "Introduction to 3D data: Modeling with ArcGIS 3D Analyst and Google Earth". Although I'm wondering if there are more material available on this topic? Moreover, is ArcGIS sufficient at all, when it comes to: creating 3D landscape visualisations on local and regional scale, working with Sketchup or other 3D modelling software alongside ArcGIS (or others?), rendering from ArcScene (is it even possible?) Should I consider other sofwares as well?
