  1. if they do pull it off then they would be the third Titan in the mobile market, something Microsoft mobile failed miserably
  2. Now the question is, how will they lure app developers to port their software to HarmonyOS. whoever controls the App Market controls the Mobile Market.
  3. so its basically a software to see the plan for the building?
  4. I think you have better luck using a Photogametry softwares like 3DZephyr, Pix4d , or Photoscan than global mapper.
  5. im kinda old school so ER Mapper is my suggestion for you, it has served me well through the years. there is a medicine already made by the great Lomex here go find it.
  6. from a 100 bucks to 40 bucks for personal use for a year? my monthly train and bus fare is more expensive than this
  7. yeah they should fire the bloke who came up with the ribbon type on Mapinfo 64 bit, totally confusing, we had to relearn everything and i mean everything from scratch the function is there but its too confusing to find where it is, they even renamed some of the functions and some are just hidden away. so when i saw ArcPRO maaaaan... ArcMap users must be as confused as well , why is this ribbon developers so obsessed on confusing us, there is no need to make Mapinfo and Arcgis look like the new Microsoft Office
  8. this is how it look for flat earthers. heres how it supposed to look in the bible. here's another concept a perspective one I think its not nonesense if you have an open mind.
  9. I know by experience when i was visiting a project site in Western africa , if you see a black dude with an AK-47 near an alluvial areas, then that is where the Diamonds are. i hope that helps.
  10. same , i didnt buy any of those expensive $H#t with a 3 grand budget for macbook from the company I instead bought a 17 inch Alienware gaming rig lappy i7 proc, Nvidia GTX 8gig vram, chucked in 32 gig RAM memory, dual booted Mac OSX Mountain Lion then printed an giant Apple Sticker to hide the alien head ;). now my boss was wondering why my macbook pro looks bulky and huge .
  11. it actually runs natively pretty much as fast as you were in windows. unlike virtuals like parallel or vmwware where performance is halved and with limited 3D rendering crossover runs like you are on windows with full rendering in 3D graphics. the problem with crossover is its picky, ive been running Surpac and Mapinfo 32 bit on it for 6 months now and its running smoothly. just tried Arcgis with the new crossover, Ive patched it in a way it doesnt need the license manager this was one of the hiccup in the old days flexlm dont work with crossover. it installed ok runs well till you choose a template, now once it goes beyond the template you have a few seconds to use it before it crashes. i suspect one or more of the add ons or toolboxes loading up causes this crash. i have to look more into it. besides Arcmap crashing , ArcCatalog and others work fine maybe. its slowly getting there
  12. Had a play with Arcgis Desktop on Crossover Mac 16.2.x (Mac OS Mountain Lion 8 gig ram, Nvidia GTX graphics) They are getting there IMHO , I think the Python 2.6 support and dot net 4.5.2 which is now running well with Crossover made the difference Arcmap
  13. if you bootcamp it then its more than enough IMO if you plan to virutalize it in mac for example parallels then that is not enough. why dont you upgrade the ram to 8 gig. ram is cheap nowadays anyway.
  14. in the mining industry we prefer mapinfo because its cheap and it has Encom Discover Module which is more oriented towards our industry. in your case maybe it boils down on usability or ease of use or whichever you are confident to use. in the mining industry Mapinfo alone without Encom discover is like having a car without an engine.
  15. you can install Mapinfo only in Mac using Crossover Mac, Mapinfo Versions 8.0, 8.5, 9.0 and 9.5 works really well under Crossover.
  16. Vmware and Parallels halve most of Macs Processing power, bootcamping is too bothersome and in the end your still using Windows. Crossover Mac, now this is a good alternative since it can run windows apps inside mac natively no emulator no instaling of windows, the problem is flexlm protection doesnt play well with Crossover , stripping flexlm protection from ArcGIS might be a good solution. still no joy from Mac ArcGIS IMHO
  17. release date was supposed to be October then moved to November but still no news on this 64 bit, actual realease date. anyone with an update on this?
  18. use global mapper or Mapinfo Discover Surface add on, they have an option there called interpolate gap or void. well if you mean fill the void these are good options but if you just want to calculate that void then thats a different matter..
  19. there are countries that dont cover these laws for plagiarism, software piracy etc. made by other countries who owned the soft, so if you live in one of those you dont need to worry bout such thing as using pirated softs for your studies. i wouldnt suggest about publishing anything though, unless your school owned a proper license for that particular software you are using as pirated copy. in the mining industry we usually let the company buy one proper license with only the modules needed for publishing reports on the reports, market, stocks, and website, the rest of us users in the company use pirated copies of the software bought, these type of setup usually get anyone under safe grounds on publishing anything. these usually are the norm nowadays in our industry since these softs are really overpriced for a regular joe to purchase one. $5000 for a limited core modules? yeah right
  20. a good explanation here for your problem I just googled "ABCD Combination" and voila !!!! the answer. google is your best friend http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-139843.html
  21. what I wrote is just a sample coding it doesnt mean it will work in your platform. the idea works on different VB platform the syntax is the only difference. there are a bunch of sample algorithms that produces that output. do a google.
  22. on click event you can code it like this if combobox.text = 3 then listtext1.text = "A B C AB AC BC ABC" elseif combobox.text = 4 then listtext1.text = "A B C D AB AC AD BC BD CD ABC ACD ABD BCD ABCD" endif
  23. try svgmapmaker http://www.spatialinsights.com/catalog/product.aspx?product=154 this add on automates svg scripting. all you need to do is open up your workspace then use the add on to export your entire map to svg, you can customize animate etc.. with its export menu parameters. just take note its a mapinfo add on.
  24. I never had formal education, is there a need to have one??? been working in GIS Mining Industry for the last 18 years and none of these companies I have worked in asked if I had a degree on GIS. in the old days we only had to choose between Arcgis 3.x and Mapinfo 4.x, if you know how to use either of the two you got the job already as GIS.
  25. I expect good maps to be posted here this is after all a GIS forum for Cartography Design, here is one of the website that I used to go to in terms of relief shading techniques http://www.reliefshading.com/techniques/photoshop.html
