I need to develop a web page showing terrain that can be accomplished using cesium. A user may upload a shapefile/KML or select an area from Map. Once a shape/feature (polygon) is added to the map, how can it be used to extract 3D terrain model encompassing the defined polygon in any of the 3D model formats like obj? The extracted model is then to be displayed on the web page that can be done via three.js probably. So here are my questions. 1. How can I extract a 3D terrain model in cesium (or any other platform) as per defined area? 2. How can that model be displayed on the webpage at runtime? I have programming experience in leaflet, R Shiny, Python etc. but I am quite new to 3D modelling. I have been searching the web for days but couldn't find anyway to accomplish the task. Any hint on how to proceed, guidelines or tutorial would be highly appreciated.

Greetings every one! I have a question to ask. I have high resolution satellite imagery of my study area/AOI. I also have geotagged photo spheres of some streets in the study area. I want to develop a web page showing my satellite imagery and on demand Street view of the 360o panoramic pictures I have. Web page is to be viewed on LAN with no internet access. I can use open layers and overlay streetview from google but I want to do the same with my own satellite imagery and photographs. I need your advise from where to start. If possible, I want to use Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server or mapguide maestro. Any prompt help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards

Just install the software. Make sure you are installing version 8.7. When it asks for license during installation, check "set licensing parameters later". After installation, apply medicine. It should work.

Yeah I've checked already. The same script works fine on ArcGIS 10. So this is 10.1's bug afterall???

Hi, Tabulate area or Zonal Statistics as Table end with [000000_12301899] error when running from ArcToolBox. Using/calling them in python such as arcpy.sa.TabulateArea.... results in a simple crash. no warning. I've tried all possible workarounds. Changing pixel size, using feature class/shapefile as zone data etc. etc. Sometimes tool runs fine and sometime it gives the error (with exactly the same parameters). Crashes ArcGIS each time when called, in python. Is it the new version's problem??? I am using ArcGIS 10.1 with SP1.

I was having some other problems with IIS and AIMS so I had to not only uninstall AIMS but also clean install windows, IIS, Visual studio, SQL server and AIMS. I created a new login in SQL server with full privilidges and then connected AIMS studio using above mentioned method. This time it worked. So some1 having same problem should see if everything in AIMS and IIS is working fine and use a user account with full permissions in SQL server. Regards

Hi, I am having problem connecting my Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server (AIMS) studio with MS SQL Server 2008. I've created a "New Feature Source" by clicking on New>Data Connection. I've pointed out the desired database in "Data Store" and tested the connection which is OK. I then saved this FeatureSource in the library. Now when I create a new layer and open the saved data source as the layer's data source, it doesn't show any featureclass/table that the database in "Data Store" actually holds... What I am doing wrong here? The database holds two (spatial) tables; roads and homes. Any help will be much appreciated!!!!

@ arcsump Yes I need to serve spatial data. And I now have to work on mapguide. I have to link sql server 2008 with mapguide. Ultimately, I'll have to use autodesk mapguide but for initial stage, can anybody give me some tips/tutorial on how to link sql server with mapguide (autodesk or open source). Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link lurker

I agree with rahmansunbeam plus developers have developed some temporal filtering techniques using Matlab or R etc. that process an image pixel by pixel and replace a cloud pixel with a suitable land value by looking into next and previous available images. I don't have any such script right now to provide but I have heard about a PhD thesis in which more or less same thing was done on some other satellite may be. So if you can do image processing using programming then you can search for that thesis.

I need to opt for a solution immediately and start working on it. Hosting prices for sites developed using javascript API's like google maps are far less than the mapping servers. So why should I opt for an expensive option (in terms of hosting prices) over the javascript API's considering the above mentioned requirements. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards

The original poster didn't come back to the topic but I think he clipped some raster and converted the clipped raster to a polygon shapefile. He wants count column from clipped raster to be displayed in polygon shapefile may be. He can also use JOIN if that was his purpose.

Hi, I want to develop a website in which I want to show data that consists of 5-6 layers with 1-2 GB size. The data will be converted/saved in MS SQL server 2008. Some satellite image as a base layer may or may not be needed in later stage. Layers include point, line and polygon geometry types. Data will be queried by end user using combo boxes may be and queried data will be displayed on may be google maps or my satellite imagery or only the data alone. My problem is that I've only a little experience of google maps api. I don't know pro's and con's of using a map server like mapguide, mapserver, GeoMedia or ArcIMS etc. or google maps api. Can any body give me a comparison of capabilities of these webgis solutions considering above mentioned requirements. Regards

You are welcome. Yes you can export into shapefile ofc. This is what medicine is for

This is valid only if the user has not already clicked on SIMPLIFY POLYGONS

SPOT images are not freeware. You've to buy 'em from the vendor or distributor. If somebody or some company has bought and uploaded some images then I am unaware of that. Regards

The problem has been solved for me now. I don't know what I was doing wrong but the software is working fine now. @ SIGIS Welcome to the forum. http://www.gisarea.com/index.php?/topic/1747-ecognition-developer-v87-build-1905-3264-bit-retail-lomex/ check out this original link. I hope this helps. Regards

Well msig0000, that is quite some old post so it might not be useful for you if I post the answer. Yet IMHO, you seem confused with projected and geographic coordinate systems. Your converted shapefile is in geographic coordinate system that is always displayed in angular units (degrees for example) because IT IS NOT PROJECTED ONTO A 2D PLANE. So there is nothing wrong with your shapefile showing angular units while it is in GCS. If you project it into UTM e.g. it'll show you coordinates in meters, or any other linear measurement units, like 5613541.34551 m, 7122352.54134 m. Hope this helps.

I just tried to send Lomex PM but unable to do that. Can any1 kindly contact him or tell me other way around to solve this problem?
-
Guyz its not my first time installing this software with medicine. But now it is asking for server. I have tried everything but no use. Same software with Lomex medicine is working fine in my friends' machines :/
-
May be I couldn't make it clear last time. I am talking about the same software whose medicine is developed by Lomex. That version used to work fine but now it asks for license server during installation as I've stated above on my newly installed windows. I've tried it on one other PC too but strangely enough it asks for the same on other machine too. I am unable to install the software. If I skip this step (by using first option in the picture uploaded in my first post), software doesn't run with and without applying the medicine.
-
Hi, I have installed and used eCognition Developers version 8.7 without any problem whose medicine was developed by Lomex. But now when I am trying to install it on my new windows after a long time, I am prompted to define License Server. Selecting localhost ends the installation with error "Desired vendor is down". Pl note that this happens during installation and before the application of medicine. Latest trial version available on trimble site installs fine though. Any idea what is causing this prompt window to appear during installation now? I've tried it on two machines with windows 7 (one with Enterprise and one with Professional edition) installed along-with ArcGIS 9.3 installed on both machines.

To the Emperor/Admins First of all, greetings. I am back after a few months. I want to point out a certain problem. Whenever, I want to post after the first login on this forum, I get a message that You are robot etc.... and I am asked two simple arithmetic questions. That's fine by me. But whenever I answer those questions correctly, I am directed to page that says [hide] Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /forum/Sources/Subs.php:4646) in forum/Sources/httpBL_Subs.php on line 128 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /forum/Sources/Subs.php:4646) in forum/warning.php on line 218 [/hide] and all of the text I had typed for the post is lost. That's annoying sometimes if the amount of text is large. I experienced this problem a few months back also when I was active on this forum. Regards

If you have spectrometer of some kind then i believe this would be very helpful. You can draw Spectral reflectance (measured from your device) against wavelengths and make a library of spectral signatures of each of the vegetation type and species. Though Spectral signature of a particular sub-class of vegetation drawn from field measurement will not match exactly to the same class as classified from the image yet that'll be helpful I believe to differentiate b/w different types of vegetation.
