i don't know q-gis enough, in arcgis usually you join a table and then you need to export the layer in a new shapefile. The new exported file contains all the Information.. so, try to Export the layer http://maps.cga.harvard.edu/qgis/wkshop/export_GIS.php funziona?1 point
