Facebook is purchasing messaging giant WhatsApp for $16 billion in cash and stock, according to a regulatory filing. The deal is being cut for $12 billion in Facebook shares, $4 billion in cash and an additional $3 billion in RSUs for employee retention. A termination fee is attached to the deal that would cost Facebook $1 billion in cash and $1 billion in shares if the deal fails to pass regulatory muster. The post notes that WhatsApp will continue to operate independently and retain its brand. In addition, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum will join Facebook’s board. Facebook notes that WhatsApp has over 450 million MAUs, with 70 percent of those active each day. In a staggering comparison, Facebook also notes that the messaging volume of WhatsApp approaches the SMS volume of the entire global telecom industry — and that it’s adding 1 million users a day. “WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion people. This a crazy investment. Especially when we know that an application can quickly become obsolete or even abandon its users overnight. I'm not sure that Mark Zuckerberg was right to make this investment, especially after the sharp fall in stock exchange even if it remains a bit stable.

Heii rabble, I am not sure what are you looking about, but in my country (Indonesia) alot of GIS and Remote Sensing work field to applied. There is a lot of project about agricultural, mining, survey etc. In Netherland there is also a lot of GIS job, it's near with UK so you don't have to flight so much :-D

hello rahman correct , most reliable storage would be buy dedicated server, like or friend in LAVTeam, to ensure all files not missing but, compare to personal hosting, dedicated server far more expensive, approx 100 - 200 dollars/month and by saving the file to our server, we need to find best offshore hosting, not in US, since their DMCA law, maybe like Russian server will be the nice choice regards,

Agreed with Group5e on file splitting issue. This is true for most good site. In that case torrent is always the best idea. But how many of us could buy dedicated or shared server or even a seedbox? Maybe gisarea could help us find one. Or something like Lavteam!

I probably should have said in my last post that I am very familiar with most clouds as well as sharing sites like Mediafire or Uploading.com. I'm also aware of google drive and dropbox. The problem is that they have limited storage capacity and are limited in file sizes. This means that files need to be split into many archives and that makes things "unpleasant" for everyone involved. Even if there was a secure FTP connection site... I do like the idea posed by lurker. File sharing is extremel unreliable and keeping files (even encrypted) in any cloud service can put uploaders and downloaders at risk. Again, I wonder if secure FTP is the way to go.... Something password protected... If anyone has a private FTP setup and is interested .
