  1. Reminder: Bing Maps Use in ArcGIS Has Changed This is a reminder that complimentary use of Microsoft's Bing Maps with ArcGIS software will be phased out by December 31, 2013. To continue using Bing Maps with ArcGIS after December 31, you will need to obtain your own Bing Maps key directly from Microsoft and then input the key into your ArcGIS products. We recommend that you start this process right away to avoid any service disruption. How This Change Will Affect Use of Bing Maps with ArcGIS Once you obtain a key from Microsoft, you will be able to use Bing Maps in your web and mobile applications as well as on ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS web APIs, all ArcGIS mobile software development kits (SDK), and ArcGIS Online. ArcGIS for Desktop will be affected in different ways, depending on the version you have: ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop has a built-in capability to add a Bing Maps key. ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop users can install a patch to use their Bing Maps key. ArcGIS 10.0 for Desktop users can install a patch to use their Bing Maps key. ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 will no longer support the use of Bing Maps. To continue using Bing Maps, you will have to upgrade to a newer version of ArcGIS for Desktop. 2. Announced today during BlackBerry Live 2013, BBM is set to go cross-platform this summer. That means BlackBerry, iOS and Android users will able be able to chat seamlessly over BBM very soon. Cross-platform BBM is long overdue but is sure to make for plenty of happy BlackBerry users in just a few months. The rollout will first include just chat, but soon to follow will be BBM Voice, BBM Video and even BBM Channels. Users on iOS and Android will get the same features of BBM that BlackBerry users already have so it should be pretty exciting. Best of all? It will still be totally free. nice news for android and iOS users source : http://crackberry.com/bbm-go-cross-platform-summer

  3. Hi people, Can anyone please compare InRoads, GEOPAK, and MXROAD? I have no time to try them all, and when I read about them on Bentley web site it looks like I read about the same product. The only road design applications I used are Inroads (for AutoCAD) and AutoCAD Civil 3D. What does "Power" in prefix mean? Microstation included?

  4. Copy cloud services now has a special free give away for online storage. You get 15 GB for free, + 5GB for each referral. What makes Copy different from most other cloud services (such as Skydrive and Dropbox) is that it has no limitation on file size. So perhaps it is interesting for remote sensing purposes/syncing of smaller projects, since those images can sometimes be too large to be accepted by other services. Also the pricing is attractive, if you are into that (group users etc.) See the link below: https://copy.com?r=AMB6mp

  5. here we go : Hewlett-Packard released two beta versions of its open source webOS on Friday: one for developers that runs on the Ubuntu Linux desktop, and one for the "OpenEmbedded" development environment, intended to help developers port webOS to new devices. The beta desktop build includes a version of the webOS System Manager that will run as an application on the Ubuntu desktop, the team wrote. System Manager's functions include rendering the webOS Card View, Launcher, Status Bar and other user interface elements. Core webOS applications such as Calendar and Contacts run within System Manager, and the new version also supports apps built with the third party Javascript framework Enyo, the team added. 8. I would ordinarily not bother announcing games on this forum, but this is different. For me SimCity is one of the inspirations to work in my current field of GIS and Remote Sensing, the thing that really got me interested in maps, urban planning and so on. Perhaps other people on this forum feel the same. Anyway, I am really glad that an awesome game like SimCity gets rebooted. Hopefully they will get it right this time and not make a huge mess that is SimCity Societies. Funny enough, EA recognizes this by not thinking as SimCity Societies as a part of the SimCity francise, and it's now back at it's Maxis subsidiary, where it belongs. To be released in 2013.
