Stephanie
Hi, I am looking for high resolution percent tree cover data for Southern Africa. I know the Hansen dataset has percent tree cover at 30 m global, but the values correspond to the growing season. I'm in need of percent tree cover for the dry season, so minimum tree cover instead of maximum tree cover which is the growing season. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to obtain this? Thanks!
rahmansunbeam
Try the MODIS (vegetation monitoring) data from GLCF. They are probably not as fine as Landsat, but may give you a rough picture. 17 hours ago, Stephanie said: I know the Hansen dataset has percent tree cover at 30 m global, but the values correspond to the growing season. May I ask the source? is it the article? Edited March 24, 2017 by rahmansunbeam
Stephanie
I don't think it states it in the article, but In the link below, it states that values correspond to the "peak growing season". And thanks! I'll check it out. I may have to do some classification on my own to get the resolution that I want. https://landcover.usgs.gov/glc/TreeCoverDescriptionAndDownloads.php
