Global Mapper Mobile Available for iOS Now

Global Mapper Mobile extends the reach of a traditional GIS by offering access to virtually all raster and vector spatial datasets where they are needed most: in the field or at the job site. Used in conjunction with the desktop version of Global Mapper, the mobile edition can display both raster and vector layers from any of the 250 supported formats. Data is quickly and easily transferred to the device in the form of Global Mapper Mobile Package Files that efficiently compress multiple layers into single file and allow large amounts of data to be stored and displayed without the need for a continual mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.

 

Global Mapper Mobile offers a full suite of data collection and digitizing tools for drawing lines, points, and polygons and for managing the attributes associated with these features. On-device data collection is made simple and efficient with preconfigured collection parameters such as pick lists and required entries ensuring accuracy and consistency. Data points can be manually placed or can be assigned to the current GPS-derived location. It is even possible to capture an image with the iPad or iPhone’s camera and automatically attach it to the current position.

Nice news indeed! I hope the android version wil come out soon. Anxiously waiting to install in my phone. A good substitute while waiting for the juniper archer to be realized.

Is confortable and  amazing when this softwares companies reach new operative systems and give the change to other user different of windows, some day will be amazing using ArcGIS and other GIS software in IOSx, for e.g. QGIS now is possible using it in Mac for me now less and less time use windows, is great news now use GM in iOS , regards

On-device data collection is made simple and efficient with preconfigured collection parameters assigned using templates to the target layer before transferring the file from the desktop version of Global Mapper to the device. This ensures consistency and accuracy through the use of pick lists, required entries, etc.

Beyond simply creating waypoints or track files, Global Mapper Mobile offers a full suite of digitizing tools for manually drawing lines, points, and polygons and for managing the attributes associated with these features. There is even an option to assign a photograph to a collected point and this association is retained when the field collected data is uploaded to the desktop software.

The transfer of data to and from the application is effectively handled using the File Sharing function in iTunes or via email. Using these simple procedures, Global Mapper Mobile Package (GMMP) files can be deployed to one or more compatible devices. On returning from the field, the modified files are quickly uploaded into the desktop version of Global Mapper where the data can be merged, edited, analyzed, and, if necessary, exported in one of dozens of supported formats or written into a spatial database.
