The feedback was discouraging but useful, in particular: AutoCAD and DXF is no way to look at LIDAR data There are lots of free programs which already do that A while ago I had another look at the problem and thought: Some people with non-GIS programs might want/need to look at LIDAR data anyway, a "light" version of the data. None of the free (or even payed for) programs did exactly what I wanted to do, and most were very complex to use.
