intertronic
Hello, does anyone knows an automatic method (probably python script), for looking into files content for coordinates in order to display the file in a map? what I mean is, for example, to look into a word file, find the coordinates 66°N, 23°E and display them as a point in a map... the files can be word, excel, powerpoint, textfiles and so on... thanks for any sharing.. msig0000
Hi Dear, What it means "and display them as a point in a map". Could you elaborate where you want that files data to be showed ArcMap? QGIS? or others..
intertronic
hi, for example if I have a world document and in the document I have 2 coordinates in the text (and the coordinates are Lat / Long), what I want is a Shapefile with 2 points (corresponding to the 2 coordinates founded in the word document). Then, if I click on the point, I'll get a link (or local path) to the file. I know that it's possible to do that but you have to make it manually, what I desire is a python script (or a software) that can automatically catalog all the files... In my case, I have a lot of documents where coordinates are written within the text, I want to "georeference" all those documents in a geodatabase and have the link to the document. So that I can then search on a world map and see if for a particular location I have / I don't have a document... thanks.. M.
msig0000
Adding attachment is not that hard but the challenge is finding lat-long in the each document. Can u assert that all docs have uniformly formatted lat-long whereas same pattern of programming can find them- better to attach a doc if you can, just to get a lucid idea!!
