kylonewton
Hey everyone, I recently acquired a data for my thesis, which basically comprises of ship origins and destinations, the contents of the ships and the weight and value of the contents and a few other things which I'm not sure will be relevant to me yet. I have to find a method to represent this information graphically on maps. I've never used GIS before and I'm just wondering if it's a suitable application for this. The data is currently in .txt format and extremely large. I've never used GIS before so I need to start from the basics. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers!!
Lurker
so what you want to visualize on to your map exactly? the "spatial" part of those data are ship origins and destination. are there already a coordinate data ? if each ships data contain ship origin coordinate and ship destination coordinate maybe you can plot it as a map regards.
