zju3s
Hello everyone, my question is similar to http://forums.esri.com/thread.asp?t=194817&f=983&c=93 select a random sample of points out of an existing point feature layer. Also, to minimize spatial autocorrelation, I would like to specify a minimum distance between points. All hints would be highly appreciated! Thanks
yousef2233
I'm not sure about autocorrelation, but you can setup your points in a minimum distance (Using fishnet, datamanagement tools> feature class> create Fishnet, "U should calculate some arguments"), then find their nearest point using analysis tools> Proximity toolset> Near. Select nearest point features based on FID, then export. your minimum distance will not rule almost, and does not ensure the autocorrelation, but I think its the most simple way. good luck
3dbu
but you can define this parameter in tools> feature class> create Fishnet or using other extention http://www.jennessent.com/arcgis/shapes_graphics.htm there get some sample that is possible do it i did. regards
rahmansunbeam
There was a wonderful tool called 'Hawath's Analysis Tool' for AG 9.1. Sad the project is dead. But you can still find few python script to random select features in AG in Arcscript. or, you could create random point yourself, then find nearest point.
