Lurker Posted October 13, 2011 Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 from their blog, firefox said that next firefox will using Google’s MapsGL for delivering 3d Map via firefox browser WebGL was originally pioneered in Mozilla’s Canvas 3D project and introduced in Firefox earlier this year. This technology is a web standard implemented widely in browsers and allows websites to display hardware-accelerated 3D graphics without the need for third-party software. Google announced MapsGL today, a version of Google Maps that allows users to experience 3D Maps with WebGL. MapsGL enables users to have a richer Google Maps experience with smoother imagery transitions, more fluid panning and zooming and 3D buildings.
