Tree counting
By qed,
I getting some images of a oil palm estate taken from a DIY drone. The image is stitch and mosaic. Has anyone done automated tree counting on these images.
Seen some examples using eCognition but that was with multi-spectral images.

seeking advice on processing VERY large volumes of vector geodata
By sv74,
Hello, comrades!
I have a tough problem to solve
Seeking your advice on geoprocessing VERY large volumes of vector geodata. Do not mix geoprecessing (buffer, clip, etc.) with converting between data formats - shp, osm, etc. For example of "large" geodataset you may consider OpenstreetMap Data for entire planet - http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Planet.osm
"Planet.osm is the OpenStreetMap data in one file: all the nodes, ways and relations that make up our map. A new version is released eve
Thermal Remote Sensing with Landsat
By anthonyw,
Hello All,
I am trying to estimate land surface temperature (LST) from Landsat 5 data. The study area is on the East coast in the US, and luckily it includes a temperature station with hourly data on the day the satellite passed. I've converted DN5 to radiance and used an inversion of Planck's to calculate brightness temperature-- this is all pretty standard stuff.
Here's my problem: The uncorrected at-satellite brightness temperature at the temperature station location is about 7 degree
